If you keep demanding "impeach now" for long enough, eventually it will be a good idea.

Trump is an idiot savant and this was his idiot side. The idiot thinks that he is invulnerable, as in the Fifth Avenue quote. It's understandable based on the abysmal failure of the establishment to hold him accountable.
Most people have not enjoyed that impunity and don't expect it.

Now let's do Larry Summers.

Trump should release all of the Epstein files: every person and every document in the files.
November 15, 2025 at 1:09 AM
I hope we aren't foolish enough to put away the pitchforks when they offer us a couple of sacrificial pedophiles. We need a much more thorough housecleaning, including the political class, the financiers, the media, and all the other dirtballs who participated, enabled, and covered up these crimes.
November 14, 2025 at 12:58 PM
Agreed. It would be great to know whether @ezralevin.bsky.social believes that Reid Hoffman is innocent of wrongdoing with Epstein.
November 14, 2025 at 3:29 AM
I am making no such assumption. Hoffman may well be guilty. We just don't have evidence: only guilt by association.
Maybe Levin is making that assumption and pushing the Epstein story because he thinks Hoffman is clean.
Less likely, but possible, Levin thinks Hoffman is dirty but safe.
November 14, 2025 at 3:22 AM
If Levin thinks Hoffman is guilty, he probably wouldn't be pushing the Epstein story. That is the extent of the "precarious logic".
There's a pretty good chance Hoffman is guilty of something, but we don't have evidence. It's not good to presume guilt on the basis of the insufficient facts we know.
November 14, 2025 at 2:59 AM
Hoffman visited the island, and probably met elsewhere with Epstein. He defended Ito. That is not evidence of wrongdoing. It is suggestive and suspicious, but it isn't evidence of wrongdoing.
Why do you think you should be able to pretend otherwise unchallenged?
November 14, 2025 at 2:18 AM
If they thought he was a child rapist, they wouldn't be doubling down.
So, they probably think he's not.
Is there any evidence or substantial accusation that Hoffman committed any crime with Epstein?

Josh emphasizes the structural problems that make our government malfunction, but any list of grounds for removal of Senators must include sponsorship of genocide. We should also remove supporters of military adventurism.
Structural fixes won't help when the Senate endorses Presidential insanity.
November 12, 2025 at 5:46 PM
Josh describes this piece thus: "I put together this short piece on how to figure out which Senators should be purged from Congress."
Of course structural reform is imperative, but our deranged foreign policy is a mortal threat to the planet. Pro-genocide and pro-adventurism Senators must go.

I've presented you with multiple articles that disagree with your scenario. I've requested any prior thread that explains your thinking.
Instead of providing anything, you have simply claimed superior knowledge that is not in evidence.
You may want to block me if you don't want to be challenged.

In addition, reporting at the time doesn't mention Trump causing Kemp to drop out. Family issues, the limits on the powers of a Senator, and election risks were cited. www.gpb.org/news/2025/05...

Here is the point that I am challenging. Thanedar's articles seem very unlikely to have triggered the chain of events you propose. They were an overnight flop.
Moreover, Trump had been focused on the midterms since immediately after the 2024 election. www.cnn.com/2025/02/27/p...
November 12, 2025 at 12:25 AM
Thanedar's articles were overwhelmingly unpopular among House Democrats. There was no indication that I saw that the articles gained any traction at all, and Thanedar withdrew them almost immediately. How would that distress Trump? It sounds like a Trump win. www.cbsnews.com/news/trump-i...

As you said, there are already items on the list that make some people uncomfortable.
Overcoming that discomfort is necessary to form a sufficiently broad alliance.
There are many potential allies who would disdain a tent that made room for genocide and adventurism.
And foreign policy is a big deal!
November 11, 2025 at 11:27 PM
I wish that were true. The Senate has enthusiastically sponsored Israel's genocide, and has failed to rein in other criminal policies, neglecting the powers they already have.
November 11, 2025 at 11:19 PM
There needs to be a criterion based on the approach to foreign policy. Support for adventurism in Latin America is a rule-out. So is support for Israel's impunity and genocide. There are plenty more.
In summary, we should reject any Senator who refuses to renounce malignant imperialism.
November 11, 2025 at 7:59 PM
If I read you correctly, you seem to think that Thanedar's abortive impeachment articles affected Trump so much that he focused on the midterms, miscalculated, and drove Kemp out of the Senate race.
Have you explained this mechanism in a previous thread?
November 11, 2025 at 3:16 PM
When Ossoff said that Trump's actions merited impeachment, "three separate GOP campaign groups had unleashed attacks on Ossoff".
Republicans apparently believe that impeachment talk helps them bring out their base.
Do you disagree?
