This is my close friend’s book. A history of pre-depression rural southern women gaining financial independence. They do this through curb markets and other home based activities. It’s a topic that’s often overlooked. Plus there is a great recipe appendix.

The Proof is in the Dough by Kathryn Beasley. It’s nonfiction book on rural women and curb markets in the 1920s American South. A subject that is often overlooked, showing the determination and economic power these women had. Plus there is an amazing selection of recipes

I’ve been reading a great book by a close and dear friend. It’s their first book and it a fantastic one at that. I’d highly recommend it for a light nonfiction read.
