Designers have been intrigued by our branding process, especially the love/hate exploration for logos.

It took us a year to figure it out, but now we're not changing a thing bout it because it works well.

Luke and I spent 10 hours nonstop designing the Coderabbit station takeover, and it's finally live!

Celebrating it with a pepperoni pizza tonight.

This website was signed off, and handed over.

I’ll walk you through the process that me and Ana went through:

I started with research and direction-finding.

Did a deep dive into their competitors and took inspiration from what they did well (and did wrong).

How we create unique branding for clients is by seeking inspiration from the outside world.

That’s how we design differently from everyone else.

After designing for many SF- and YC-backed startups, I noticed how much they value speed.

The startup world is so fast, everyone's launching in weeks and needs their designs like yesterday.

This week, we closed 2 clients out of 3 for a branding sprint:

1. YC startup raising for Series A

No-shows after rescheduling.

2. Web series

Super cool project, like Hot Ones but for Silicon Valley; they reached out to us after seeing our work on X.

We haven't gone to a second branding round in a long time, because we're good at discovery.

We take so much care at the start, ask tons of questions, and explain the ideas so well that clients really understand where we are coming from.

There's a test we do to see if we nailed the branding:

We put the design into the approved mood board.

If it blends in perfectly, we know we got it right.

Our studio signed CodeRabbit as a design partner in 2025.

So far, we have done:

- Logo re-design (best logo re-design of all-time)
- Merch
- Physical product (still unreleased)
- Social media ads
- Motion and 3D work
- Website redesign
- SF buses advertising
- Billboards & Station Ads

I started my business to work less, not more.

These people grinding 24/7 drive me insane.

"Sacrificed my weekends for 6 months straight."

Cool, you are just in a 9-5. Even worse, working overtime without the benefits.

Why would I run a business if I'd be working more than in my 9-5?
January 14, 2026 at 6:01 PM
We delivered branding for an SF client in a week, now, they're back for marketing assets, merch and potentially a website design.

I wanted to play Arc Raiders in my pants, now I gotta work more, please help.

(p.s. I love my job)

I'd happily take a $5K branding project that I enjoy than a $10K one that I don't.

Projects have to be fun, otherwise, what's the point?

Doing boring, generic, safe branding is not for me.

I'd rather do some fun hand-drawn mascots, or unconventional projects.

I've been running my design studio for a year now, but I barely talk about the work we do and how we do it

But moving into 2026, that's changing

You will see the same amount of memes, but more design and business stuff

Get ready

An important lesson that is best learnt early is not too get too attached to your concepts.

We've spent weeks working on logo and brand concepts just for a client to tear it to pieces in 5 minutes.

Take our current project for example:

> Spent a whole refining a presenting a single concept

The final logo vs The concepts

Old CodeRabbit logo to new CodeRabbit logo!

Yes it’s intentionally poor quality because I enjoy the line boils 😂

Also I’m practicing hiding the transitions in the speed I.e there’s no “in-between” frame!

Do you send post-project gifts to your clients?

Is it too much?

Is it weird?

Well, we're going to start doing it.

You built something complex.

Now make it explainable.

Simplicity increases trust but not at the expense of accuracy.

What kind of vibe does this palette give to you?

High quality mockups for a current branding client 👒

Just picked this up for my journey home, hopefully I can incorporate something from it next week.

I like to work week to week

If I don’t feel a week went very well, then I’ll reset over the weekend and hit the next one different

✌️

Pattern fill is still pretty unknown and utilised in @figma.com so here’s a fast little explainer!

Figma launched their MCP server in beta yesterday so I gave it a try ✌️
