Amazing to be in a room of 1000 people at #BradfordLitFest to hear @jeremycorbin.bsky.social speak about the global arms industry and the detrimental impact of wars.

Fantastic panel @rightscon.org. If hosted in my home country #UK many panellists/ participants probably wouldn’t get a visa to attend or at risk of detention under draconian anti-terror laws. Amazing to see so much solidarity for #Palestine #Myanmar #Tigre #Uyghurs @timnitgebru.bsky.social

Excited to be in #Taipei for @rightscon.org representing #CivicSightAsia. Looking forward to 4 days of meeting old friends, making new ones. Lucky to have my team back in Bangkok to helping me with my schedule.

Remembering Khalil Dale @ICRC & my colleagues in #Myanmar who lost their lives in the service of others. A beautiful service at Westminster Abbey this afternoon to honour their memories. #NoMatterWhat

Excited to be taking up the position of Regional Director for East, Southeast Asia and the Pacific @amnesty. Tackling the myriad human rights issues across the region will certainly be a challenge, but it’s one my brilliant team and I will be rolling up our sleeves to meet

“We’ve learned that quiet isn’t always peace, and the norms and notions of what “just” is isn’t always justice.” @amnesty youth of the present.

The thoughtfulness of @OnjaliRauf cannot be measured. In the last days of my beloved home I leave behind for a new adventure, I stole a moment to read my letter. I love 💕 you to the moon 🌙 and beyond.

Burnt my tongue on a cup of teh tarik. Good to be back in #Asia where kettles & not microwaves used to make a cuppa. #Boston was a blast but happy to be heading home

So proud of my colleague & friend from #Myanmar who through grit and determination graduated today with an LL.M from #Fordham2023. Honoured to be part of her celebration today. Never forgotten are our colleagues still in prison & those fighting for justice & human rights everyday

Very excited to see familiar food @YorkshireTea @irnbru and @HeinzUK baked beans in @Wegmans #Boston. The trifecta of foods I miss living in #Myanmar

Happy International Women’s Day! Dedicated to the women I have the privilege & pleasure of working with through @CivicSightAsia @JadeCAnderson @izzieng @ewickeri & to all my sheroes who inspire & motivate me. And these 2, my biggest champions who love & support unconditionally.

This is love. When insanely busy @BHCBarristers bezzer takes time out to send @Selfridges care package to #Myanmar to cheer me up after my recent typhoid episode. Semaab Shaikh you rock.

Months of hours of daily trawling Facebook to get vaccine leads after @BritishCouncil would not vaccinate consultants funded by EU & @ukinmyanmar their citizens, despite having excess vaccines. Thanks to the French Embassy I got vaccinated. Vive la France! Thank you @EUMyanmar

My heart yearns to be back home. I don’t have the option of getting on a plane and going back as the crisis continues in Myanmar. I am grateful for having the privilege of living & working overseas but my soul will always be rooted in #Scotland.

Praying for peace and safety particularly for the Ummah living under oppression in #Palestine and to my loved ones, colleagues & family a blessed #EidUlFitr from #Myanmar

Happy 50th Birthday #Bangladesh. This is a also milestone for my parents who got married the day before independence. Sad to miss out celebrating with them in Dhaka, but feel incredibly blessed they made it to 50 years given the loss of many loved ones this past year. #JoyBangla

Have been fielding calls for days about why I am not leaving #Myanmar. As a foreigner I have the privilege to work here. As long as that is possible I will continue to stay as there is more need than ever for free legal services.

From #London to the library of International School Yangon #Myanmar, amazing to see how far @OnjaliRauf's book baby has travelled. Teacher Dan & his pupils are big fans! #theboyatthebackoftheclass 🎒

This is happening now. Night raids across Yangon to arrest protesters. Terrified for my neighbours & colleagues. Another sleepless night ahead. #MyanmarProtests #MyanmarCoup

Given the current situation in #Myanmar thought I should brush up. The code of criminal procedure & the Penal Code both date back to 19th century colonial law. Very few amendments over the past 100 years. The "descriptions" are particularly reflective of those times.

This is happening now in Downtown Yangon. Armed police in riot gear walking down my street. Pin drop silence. They have taken down the neighborhood bamboo barricade to protect our street. #MyanmarProtests
