I'm uncomfortable with memorialising the women murdered during the witch trials as "witches". Because it misses the point that witches never existed. The people murdered were women who hadn't done anything wrong. What we actually lost was our traditional knowledge, stories and healing practices.

Spring beauty alongside filthy storm drain this morning. I wish we had a better way to manage our creeks - and less plastic rubbish all the time!

I live this plant. I basically ignore it and every year it gets bigger and prettier 🩷

G: The beacons are lit! Halloween calls for aid! Will Christmas answer?
E (not really listening but assuming she is Rohan in this story): Yes! I will answer.
G: You're not Christmas!
E: I *am* Christmas! ... Wait ... Why are we talking about Christmas???

Today is proudly brought to you by this fantastic moss growing in the local storm drain (aka something that was once a creek).

As someone who grew up isolated in rural Australia I can't tell you how much this post means to me. My life changed when I got my own device and the internet (in my 20s). Suddenly I could find topics I cared about and people who were like me without the surveillance of family and community.

Great to see. 'Fat but fit' is my current goal after 40+ years of failing to not be fatter than the glamorous average. Now if only more clothing companies made clothes that fit... (Many do and more are arriving every day and I love them for that.)

Join me in two weeks for a National Day of Action against racism and fascism - 12pm, Civic Square (outside CMAG and the theatre) Saturday 13 September. Organised by Canberra's Traditional Owners in response to the racist attacks in Naarm (Melbourne) and the racist rallies on 31 August 🖤💛❤️

Powerful full page ad in the Canberra Times today. Come to the rally 12pm tomorrow in Civic Square 🩷🩷🩷. (Or I'm sure if you're not in Canberra, you can find one near you - they are all over Australia 🩷)

Join the nationwide march for Palestine 🍉🍉🍉

Eating an apple and thinking of the people of Palestine - the kids and the grown-ups. There is a National Day of Action next weekend 24 August (Australia). Check it out in your capital city 🍉🍉🍉

If Canberra folks were feeling jealous of Sydney, we get our very own bridge rally for P-a-l-e-s-t-i-n-e next weekend 🩷🍉🍉🍉

Please come? I would really love to see friends there. I can give lifts from northside if that helps anyone xxx

The latest Freedom Flotilla ship, the Handala, was stopped by Israel sometime during the night. It was in international waters and carrying aid for Palestine. There were 2 Australians on board who are now in Israeli custody.

There's a letter template to seek their release (link in comments).

Spine-chilling and nauseating. The Australian government can't seem to be trusted to do what it can to stop this. Particularly in its absence, we have to speak up. In solidarity 🍉🍉🍉

I love the juxtaposition of these two plants together.

I did not know about this plant. So pretty! I kinda want to grow it now. (I did want to say that this plant doesn't grow popcorn. Popcorn is grown on a corn plant. It's a type of maize - see photo. But I don't want to detract from your discovery because this plant is awesome.) (Photo from Wikipedia)
