A Renegade (NES/SMS shown) appreciation post:
The grand-daddy of beat ‘em ups which, despite its age, still paints the clearest picture of how crowd-control is fun and satisfying in beat ‘em ups. The entire game mostly uses a single enemy configuration, but it works great and is still fun.

I've found that adaptive scanlines with a bit of blue/red convergence, without a shadow mask, gives the best results on a basic sdr 1080p lcd. You retain good brightness, no visible color distortion, and the pixel grid of the lcd gives the illusion of a nice fine pitch aperture grille. #retroTINK4K

Here's a nice SGB color palette for Qix!

GIFs!? Woo! A sprite of Hayate (Ninja Senki) I did a while back, bigger & redesigned for #NES restrictions.

Btw: GIFs need to be uploaded via the "video" icon.

The original Star Fox is one of my favorite games, but it was severely held back by its technical limitations. I'd love to see it remade for Switch 2! Either with the awesome puppet style visuals of the original key art, or completely flat shaded but running in HD/60fps.

Some more old pixel art from twitter. I made this sprite following #NES restrictions for a side project I was working on with @michaellarouche.bsky.social. V1 was using too many sprites and would have caused a lot of flickering, so I designed V2 to use less sprites on a single line.

Slowly bringing over some stuff from twitter. This is a rotation of Grit I made for Panzer Paladin. It's not really used in-game (besides for the loading screen), but it served as a model to keep his proportions consistent when animated.

Just a HAMSTER Corporation appreciation post, they're kind of low-key, and at the same time, they're spearheading video game preservation on modern consoles via high quality emulation. Fantastic work!

I might as well repost these too. They were for a random game idea I put on ice indefinitely. I'm still happy with how these sprites turned out.

I'm here! Here's an old Mega Man sprite to break the ice.
