I bought a giant bag of powdered detergent sometime last year and I'm still working on it, despite twice weekly washings each for two people. That stuff is hyper concentrated, you should NOT use the full amount as directed outside of EXTREME cases.

I don't think I've ever actually measured the amount of detergent I use. If they're particularly soiled, I'll use more. Otherwise I don't use much at all. And my clothes smell fresh and clean. I get far more loads out of it than the containers claim I could.
