A number of years ago an artist in Whitehorse suggested a raven-shaped license plate for the Yukon. The government declined to take him up on the suggestion.

For this International Women's Day here's a photo of two former members of the Yukon Territorial Council/Legislative Assembly.
Jean Gordon (right) was the first woman elected to the council in 1967. Joyce Hayden (left) was a member of the Legislative Assembly from 1989-92. (+)

(1/7) OTD in 1972 @yukonassembly received its mace. According to the assembly's info sheet on the mace:
“In 1964 the Yukon Territorial Council (now called the Legislative Assembly) agreed to establish a competition for the design of a Yukon Mace.

(3/8) As Phelps was not an MLA, on 14 February DIAND Minister David Crombie issued a letter of instruction to Yukon Commissioner Doug Bell clarifying that the person chosen as PC leader did not have to be an MLA at the time of their election to be appointed Government Leader.
