Cemetery for the Union dead at Gettysburg.

They died for a more perfect Union.

Why there’s Memorial Day. Why there should be.

Imagine being called home to heaven right after the Easter celebration. Having Jesus himself knock gently on the door to say “well done my good and faithful servant.”

Rest in peace, Papa Francisco.

Say hello to my brand new set of pots and pans replacing my woeful set of 30 years.

My old set was durable but not pretty. Now I have both! They’re made under the imprimatur of Martha Stewart so that’s a good thing too.

Look out - there’s a new domestic goddess in town.

I normally make my turkey kale chili for Super Bowl but I was by myself for this year’s game. So I’m making it tonight for the Oscars - Hollywood’s “Super Bowl”!

Well, it’s my high holy day - the Academy Awards will be presented tonight. I’ve endured snub after snub from the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences but I warn them one day I will speak these words!

Gene Hackman has passed away.

His scenes with Frances Mcdormand in Mississippi Burning had an intense undercurrent that couldn’t be matched by actors considered more conventionally beautiful and sexy.

He’ll be remembered for his immense talent. And, for me, a bit of a crush.

A perfect voice. An amazing album. And the first famous “Roberta” I had ever heard about.

RIP Roberta Flack. Your quiet fire will never be extinguished.

On this 80th anniversary of the liberation of the Auschwitz death camp, let this be the lesson we remember from the last time fascism rose to power.

World Holocaust Remembrance Day, 2025.

I’ve been so preoccupied with directing Cat on a Hot Tin Roof, I completely forgot about entering my screenplay into the Palm Springs Diversity Screenplay Contest in the Writer Over 60 category late last year. I just got notified today that I am a quarter-finalist!

What a nice surprise!
