There's no L in joyeaux. It would be kind of strange if there was.

Workmen repaired the water main outside my house today. I heard all the water drain out of my pipes when the pressure dropped. It's quite a sound.

One thing I haven't seen discussed is the selection of Dolby AC-4 audio for ATSC 3.0. Opus has been available since 2012. Choosing a different lossy codec is simply an error.

I've never seen a ventriloquist dummy in any fiction that isn't intensely unpleasant.

Who comes up with vendor due diligence questions? All the ones I've seen are gibberish.

I worked out one time that a 131,072-lane highway would be about 300 miles wide.

For years, my kitty has begged for whatever I'm making in the kitchen, only to refuse to eat it when I put some on the floor for him. What is it he finally eats? Lentil soup.

I had all the insulation sucked out of my attic. It was 20+ years old, and I could hear rodents scratching around up there. I'm hopeful the new insulation that arrives tomorrow will do an even better job, but for tonight, my AC is really struggling.

I've made appointments with two different exterminators recently and they both never showed up.

This was fun to make #origami
August 2, 2025 at 2:28 AM
I checked out so many origami books from the library when I was a kid. I didn't pay much attention to titles or authors, plus it was a quarter century ago, so it's difficult finding those books again now.

What's your favorite Platonic solid?
July 27, 2025 at 2:49 AM
Perhaps because I grew up reading origami books, I find it intensely unpleasant trying to learn new folds from a video.

Mr. Kitty, if you're going to sit in my lap, you have to SIT in my lap.

LEPIDUS: What manner o’ thing is your [tariff]?
ANTONY: It is shaped, sir, like itself, and it is as broad as
it hath breadth. It is just so high as it is, and moves
with it own organs. It lives by that which nourisheth
it, and the elements once out of it, it
transmigrates.

I got to thinking recently about an IKEA computer desk I used to have in the early 00s. I found it in an archived catalog from 2003. Apparently, its name was SET, which makes it impossible to Google.

Betavoltaics seem tailor-made for clickbait headlines. Will the battery last for 5000 years? Yes, but it would take 1000 years to charge a phone one time.

I updated my phone to Android 15 yesterday, and one app was partially in Japanese afterward. Switching the language to Japanese and then back to English fixed it.

I solved a problem I've been having for >1yr. My car stereo will read from USB sticks, but it converts folders with UPPERCASE names to lowercase. So, my tracks from ABBA and RADWIMPS wouldn't play in a playlist because the playlist had the capital letters.
