After several days of mourning, Rina threw off her earlier self and blossomed into a new cat. A mischievous attention seeker, she developed a fabulous sense of humor.
Theres no way to know if she’d have been that wild thing if it weren’t for her older sister’s subduing influence.

Bianca had been the leader, never a bully, but thoroughly occupying her chatty pride of place, while Rina played her shadow accomplice, quieter, shyer.
But for weeks after Bianca’s death, we’d stare at Rina, our brows furrowed, bewildered.

A couple decades ago, we were joined by two (Shakespearean) litter mates, Bianca and ‘Rina. Bianca, a sleek cloudy grey, left us first, after about twelve years, her body just done in. But Maine-Coonish Rina hung in another eight-nine months, helped along by daily doses of lactated ringers.
