Great talk today by @veronicagroves.bsky.social at the @sebiology.bsky.social regarding the use of surrogates to study at-risk fishes - working with imperilled fishes always important but has its challenges

Made it to the @sebiology.bsky.social conference in Antwerp - look forward to sharing some of our lab’s research regarding the improvement of captive breeding for conservation efforts using evolutionary & ecological principles with physiological/genetic tools

Massive congrats to our very own @uwindsor.bsky.social @ibiouwindsor.bsky.social Olivia Galloway who successfully defended her Masters thesis today focused on conservation efforts for Lake Sturgeon and has an environmental science job starting in a week!

Great to have the first year @ibiouwindsor.bsky.social class (BIOL1111 - Biodiversity) visit the Freshwater Restoration Ecology Centre to learn first hand about research regarding restoring habitat and species at risk fishes - students enjoyed the hands on experience at the end of the year

We are assessing pictures from @ibiouwindsor.bsky.social ⁦‪MSc student study on the effects of tank colour on Chinook salmon fry - here you can see same age fry from white tank (left) and black (right) tank - can you spot the difference?

Our lab continues to examines ways to mitigate the environmental mismatch issues that captive bred animals (intended for reintroduction) face - examining effects of tank colour on phenotype for salmon conservation
