Actually listening back the drums come in bigger at the end of that song that I remembered. I guess they just seem like more of an accent adding to her vocal eruption.

Some elements do make it more difficult to achieve a heavy sound (for me speed kills heaviness) at but you can also have a heavy song that barely raises a drumstick. (Drink before the War by Sinead O’Connor comes to mind). Often it’s a bottom end mixed w/ pressure & release. Pardon the phrasing.
