J's mum and dad just returned my copy of The Birth of Sydney after they both read it. Turns out I was using a train ticket as a bookmark when I read it in 2006, but it feels so appropriate to leave it there...

A very close birdy encounter this morning. Thanks Jaclyn Crupi for inspiring me to drink my coffee in the garden like a nonno!
There was a group of at least 4 cockatoos hanging out along with a couple of rainbow lorikeets, but we suspect these two are a bonded pair of escaped pets.

My sister was keen to help out with the quail pen this afternoon, so we redid their sand and mulch then watched about half an hour of quail TV together. I gave her a big bok choy from the garden :D

This unintentionally coincided with Diwali, but I finally got live jalebi from the place at Harris Park that always has a line. They gave me a bonus piece and ohmygosh it was so crispy! The other sweet was left over from a mixed box that was sent to the office this week.

Our neighbours have multiple giant mulberry trees they never touch, so I took advantage of the overhanging branches and made mulberry and coconut muffins tonight. (Cornersmith recipe, of course!)

Kea are super cute but also a bit terrifying. Total dinosaurs. This pair were hanging out on the road (with a bonus western weka) when we were coming back from Milford Sound on a tour bus.

Spent most of the day having delicious BBQ and intensely touching grass with @jentuyet.bsky.social and Evie! I don't have any photos of the BBQ or the grass touching, but this little pond shrine at the aquatic shop was super cute

Made it to the Wistaria Gardens spring event this year!! Huge crowd and lots of aunties 😆

I'm halfway through Ya Boy Kongming! (live action) and it's so much fun, although you probably have to be a specific kind of nerd to really enjoy it... the fashion, performance and studio scenes are so inspired!
