I once stumbled on antivaxxers (Dutchies like me) who were quite fond of the Colonies of Benevolence (Dutch answer to poverty in the 1800's). I was happy to inform them the Colonies actually made vaccines, and even enforced their policy of mandatory vaccination 😇 Chased them out of my ball park 🤭

Yes, that makes sense. The Netherlands (where I'm from) did something similar but with young slaves. I'm fascinated by how hard medical history actually is. I feel like you were best off not going to the doctor 😅 The aim of my project is to make the information accessible to the general public 🙂

For example: our local pharmacy grew cow-pox to make vaccines. In order to transport these vaccines however, they'd get an orphan, over-vaccinate the child so it would get sick and develop blisters. The sick child could then be transported and on arrival the fluids were extracted from the pox...

Thank you for the list 😊 I'm starting a little volunteering project next month (after I finish my full-stack developer bootcamp) where I'm charting medicinal routes from our local pharmacy from the 19th century (what was transported and how). There's bound to be some inspiration in that list 😃
