Also worth noting that with the additional courses in the Open rota, courses can now wait more than a decade for a shot. It's Birkdale next year which means Lytham hasn't had the tournament since 2012

Turnberry was removed from the rota because the previous owners ran the place down. Trump has close associations to LIV golf, a competitor to the PGA/R&A. There are issues beyond Trump's ownership, most notably the R&A's wish to involve Royal Portrush and Royal Liverpool

I think my favourite Canadian riding is Thunder Bay- Rainy River.

Fancy saying 'Hello, I'm the MP for Thunder Bay-Rainy River'

James, the dangerous bit with a petrol tanker is not when they are full but when they are 'empty' i.e. filled with petrol vapour and air, a highly explosive mixture

Trump isn't playing 4D chess. He's an idiot. He is getting advice from frauds and idiots. Take Peter Navarro, his 'trade expert' and a hawk for tariffs.

Navarro quotes one academic source in his books, Ron Vara.

Ron Vara is a fiction.

Ron Vara is an anagram of Navarro.

But if it's true he's replacing Musk with Loomer, expect things to get even more crazy

The Kola Nut - used to maker Coca Cola and Pepsi - comes from West Africa. 55% of production comes from Nigeria, the rest from Nigeria's neighbours. He stuck a 14% tariff on Nigeria and higher tariffs on it's neighbours. Cola is going to get more expensive
April 6, 2025 at 8:29 AM
It is the US importer, not the producer, who pays the tariff. And we drink coffee (proper coffee not the weak as version you Americans 'enjoy') A LOT here is Europe. In Italy, it's almost a religious experience, so much so, Starbucks have tried, and failed to get into the Italian market

They didn't exempt potash, vital to American agriculture, or graphite, which isn't produced in the US and which is 100% imported

It's not about trade. It's about bending the knee to the divine right of the king.

What's American for Lettuce?
April 3, 2025 at 3:43 PM
Yes. and they're not reciprocal tariffs. A reciprocal is where you put the same tariffs on that the other party applies to your goods. Trump has just taken a proportion of the US trade deficit with each country and applied it to the tariff
April 3, 2025 at 3:42 PM
Correct. Some Republicans lying and saying the Tariffs won't affect US made goods, but many of those goods rely on components purchased abroad or on international exchanges and costs for those have risen. So even US goods will be more expensive

Bloodbath on Wall Street this morning $1 trillion knocked off shares in 90 minutes and it's still falling. Gold is spiking to an all time high. So Trump might be considering melting down the toilets in Trump Tower

Remember the Trump guitars emblazoned with the stars and stripes. There is now video of the production facility where they are made........in China

He had taken drugs and was believed to be seeking sexual gratification through auto-erotic asphyxiation

The quality of Tory Local Government:

The inquest into the death of a member of Shropshire Council's controlling Tory Group has just reported. He was found dead in the premises of a Bilston drug dealer. He had suffocated with a plastic bag over his head.

Matt Gaetz for Attorney General. I suspect buyer's remorse will set in within weeks
November 13, 2024 at 8:48 PM
So Trump has now appointed not one but two individuals to national security positions who are either compromised by Russia or may actually be Russian agents
November 13, 2024 at 7:16 PM
How long before buyer's remorse kicks in? Could Trump be a lame duck after the mid-terms?

Well one of them proposed getting rid of the US government body responsible for enforcing nuclear safety standards. That might produce a similar effect to the Manhattan project
