All of the things that were ON said coffee table unceremoniously dumped on the floor in order to clear it off. Now needing to be sorted and put away. But if you’re me, this is the only way to do it. What sort of monster can just put everything away first?
An embarrassing pile of art supplies, pens, sewing tools, threads, office supplies, random papers, collection of unctuouents and life detritus that accumulates next to the chair you collapse into.

My newly polished steel coffee table all of its shining cleared off glory. The problem with having nice things is that you have to take care of them. In this case, taking steel wool to the rust spots that result from the inevitable drips and spills. I finally found the right wax for it.

My pink velour mid century modern round low chair. It that a hexie quilt and two orange velour pillows. It has a crown of morning lit prisms forming a crown above it. My first and last upholstery project.

Bought a bunch of good Japanese incense, so I don’t have to use the disappointing dailies that are the only ones on offer here. It’s surprising no one carries even slightly higher end incense. I’m spoiled, and aloeswood is the best. When you burn it, you can feel the whole room calm.

It is a porcelain bowl that started out 30+ years ago with only garnet rocks, but is now crowded with ash and butt ends of as many years of incense sticks. It also holds an even older very ash covered ingot impressed with Buddhas from Thailand, I think and a new yellow cherry blossom burner to hold the sticks in place, so I don’t have to sink so much of the stick in for it to stand upright. Japanese incense sticks are woods, herbs and resins moulded into sticks or cones, and are not infused with oils that can release toxins when burned.

This was today and is tomorrow. I picked off the beads, so I could hem it. Not a big hem, but it still took almost 3 hours just to remove the beads. Tomorrow is picking off and clipping threads, then sewing the actual hem.
A Mac Dougal beaded dress in a heap on the cutting table. It is a king of peachy taupe mesh with antiqued silver glass bugle beads. The bottom has just been cut off, and the cut edges are a few inches apart. The beads haven’t been removed from the bottom of the dress at this point.

Here’s a drawing that my art partner in crime and I did in 2020 to protest DeJoy sabotaging the USPS. We made these into postcards and sent them all over the US. I wonder how many senators/reps received them. Quite a few I’m sure. Still relevant, unfortunately. I think I have a stack left somewhere.

My art partner in crime, Brent Wear painted everything then I inked over it. That’s our style. This particular piece was done on paper; which is rare for us, but it was made specifically for print. Together we go by Fancy Mammal, but this piece is unsigned. I can’t remember how many we printed. 1000? 1500? A lot. It’s surprising how many people like to write lettres. These got distributed my several penpal and philately groups, and requested by a surprising amount of postal workers. My mailman seemed to enjoy it when there were a stack in the outgoing mailbox. I hope others were pleased when they saw them. It was 2020, and we all felt quite helpless then. I’d been selling online for over a decade by that time, and I’d never had a package go missing before that. I had 3 packages disappear in that summer alone. The post office is magical, and they want to destroy every good thing. Please resist. Who doesn’t want to receive a hand addressed letter in the mail? A postcard from a friend on vacation or a birthday card with a few dollars inside..

She looks a little annoyed, I’m not sure why. She got up there on her own, but she’s got a displeased look on her face. The tops of her eyes are lines, and that usually means danger.

I have no idea what’s going in the world, but I finished potting my new monstera. (Yes, i know the pot is too big, but it has a correct size secret pot sunk inside.) I hope I can keep it alive!
