Hinton is right, super intelligence is around the corner.

The future will be shaped by leaders who approach this technology with calm, clarity, and courage – not just those who fear or idolize it.

Senior executives must cut through the hype with pragmatic leadership. That means listening to experts like Hinton – and challenging their assumptions.

Sure, stay vigilant about long-term risks, but stay grounded. Use AI as a strategic asset, not a bogeyman.

If democratic allies can’t standardize cookie banners, why would rivals converge on machine morality?

Stop waiting for global consensus. Design for disagreement. Build systems that remain safe, compliant, and competitive across conflicting norms.

Look around. We already have competing rulebooks:

- EU AI Act (hard law)
- US NIST AI RMF (voluntary)
- China’s GenAI rules (state-led)
- G7 codes (coordination, kind of)

Harmony? More like managed divergence.

We won’t.

Ethics is local.

Geopolitics beats “kumbaya”.

This bid elevates Perplexity’s brand with consumers, talent, and capital.

It’s also a loud reminder that the distribution channel (like Chrome) will decide AI winners.

The Signal: Owning AI search is Apple’s chance to reset how billions access digital knowledge. And train Siri!

Secondly, developing an in-house AI-powered search, via acquiring Perplexity, could deliver seamless iOS integration for intuitive, privacy-focused experiences.

This aligns with Apple’s ethos and reduces dependency on external partners.

Firstly, Google pays Apple approximately $20B annually for default search engine on iOS devices. The U.S. Department of Justice’s lawsuit, initiated in 2020, claims the deal suppresses competition.

Apple risks losing 20% of its service revenue.

That’s why I surround myself with the brightest people. That’s how I future-proof my business. Thank you to everyone I worked with at the Data Science Summit.
