What’s with the patronizing statement that she’s a “young woman” who needs to be coddled from critique? She’s a 35-year-old public figure 🙄 it’s wild how her whole “sweet white girl” pose seems to shield her from the same level of criticism others would face if their album sucked

Noem’s video is bait for non-Trumpers because it invites us to do just what my wife & I have done: discuss her looks instead of her ideas. “See?” fascists say. “Who’s the sexist now? Hypocrites!” It’s a trap, because for fascism the aesthetic *is* the “idea.” 6/

the reality of this is simple: legal arguments are normative arguments. you are arguing for specific outcomes and specific legal regimes. this is transparent to everyone except lawyers.
