Yeah but 2 completely different skill sets. He's trained for OF now and it would take a good amount of time, I would think, to re-adjust him to being a major league level infielder, let alone 1B.

His arm is solid, his baseball IQ is pretty on point, and he's a switch-hitter. I get what you're saying and if there was a young Rizzo 2.0 I'd be all in. Bellinger won't come on the cheap. I worry about Hal's tight wallet and we need Soto like we need air.

IMO the starting rotation and the pen are the priority. Cabrera handled 1B very well during the post season and the WS, handles the bat plus has some speed. That would free up the money to acquire some solid, healthy pitching depth. Ideal, maybe not but let's avoid Cashman's dumpster diving.
