I read Claire Keegan's Small Things Like These over Christmas, a seasonal re-read. It is perfect. I'll buy someone anything by her.

I have many unread or unfinished books so in 2026 the dice decide what’s next. I have 5 shelves with 10 books on each. My D10 chose The Marriage Portrait! Caveat: 3 chapter rule-hate it and it goes to charity.

Out of the 6 of her books that I read back-to-back, last summer, this was the passage that really struck me.
All too relevant, even a few months ago.

#OTD in 1905, Baroness Orczy's 𝘛𝘩𝘦 𝘚𝘤𝘢𝘳𝘭𝘦𝘵 𝘗𝘪𝘮𝘱𝘦𝘳𝘯𝘦𝘭 opened in London's West End (novel published later in 1905). Origin of the #superhero trope--creating the archetype of the "hero with a secret identity," a concept central to modern superhero fiction. A precursor to Zorro, Batman & more. #booksky

First bookclub of the year last night discussing ‘All Fours’. We are a new group of 6 women aged 19-50 and 3.5 of us had read the book! A provocative read which resonated in many ways but we disliked how much the protagonist was trying to find who she was by emulating stereotypical male behaviour.
