I love a nice wander in Holyrood Park or up Arthur's Seat, but the erosion up there is getting really bad. No wonder there's no bloody skylarks, as the signage says.

It's really apparent when you look at the aerial view.

My first foray into the world of micro controllers. Finally using some of the electrical spares I've stripped off junk years ago lol. ESP32 off screen.

Successful arrival at Doncaster

Took this photo only two years ago while on holiday in NYC. Also visited Ellis Island and found it very moving: that sense of the USA having offered safe harbour and new opportunities to millions. But that's all in the past, isn't it?

It's true, apparently.

And that is the UK perspective. Worldwide, it's more obvious.

Google Trends would suggest (and this surprises me) that The Beatles are losing traction versus Elvis over the last 20 years.

Doesn't quite work the same on BeebEm seemingly (this flashes the yellow with blue and leaves the magenta).

As I say: non-standard. I'm not sure I ever saw these stripey patterns documented anywhere, or how they come about.

Please find a list of non-standard VDU 18 codes for the Acorn Electron.

(Found notes I'd made while clearing some boxes a while back. I kept a few bits for some reason like this.)

Just a wee plug for my next concert. :)

My most recent one. It's the Sydney Harbour. I lie. It's the Wear Bridge in Sunderland the other week.

Enjoyed the hat one of the Melanias had on yesterday.

Does anyone know what these large circular mound features are in the Humber? (Cleethorpes Pier for scale)
Or even if they're real rather than some peculiar artefact.
I can't begin to think what they might be or why they're there.

Read like an epic battle in Tekken.

Not actually a dwarven city. Limekilns just south of South Shields a few days ago. A little winter walk up the coast from Sunderland.

Having done a second LA trip in November, got to explore some of the less obvious city highlights, which occasionally surprised, like this showstopper of a room at the Huntington, Pasadena. Gainsborough's The Blue Boy at the end there. Quite a few "Oh that's here is it?"s.

A wee throwback to August's trip to NOLA. This is Oak Alley Plantation. Primary Colours was filmed here and also, for Anne Rice fans, Interview with the Vampire. The oaks were gorgeous.

Having been vegetarian for 35y, for dietary reasons I started to eat fish this year. Behold my first chippy tea, at the fantastic Allanwater Cafe in Bridge of Allan.

The delightful Glen Tilt on a nicer day in August. The Tay-Tilt fault passes through on its way from Ben Ledi, Glen Ample and Loch Tay up to the Cairngorms.

Throwback to some summer Munro bagging. The Glen Lyon horseshoe of four. The parking wasn't as bad the infamous reputation suggestion. Lawers range behind, with @desdoesscience.bsky.social .

I went to Nantes in the summer and a highlight was Angers Castle. They have what is possibly the largest medieval artwork in existence: the Apocalypse Tapestry. This isn't all of it...

A fun spot in the summer was these gardens at Gardone, Italy. The Vittoriale. This boat is like literally on a hillside.

Just to prove the whole doiley thing. Here's one in action.
