Saw the matinee on Saturday. First live opera for me. It passed quickly given the length. Enjoyed it, and appreciated the subtitles. Can remember way back when they first rolled out the subtitle concept and all the kerfuffle and handwringing being reported being reported by KDFC. 😄
Thin and tall red triangle and scattered red splotches on the curtain with the Parsifal playbill held up against it. Orchestra level tucked in under the box seats. Most of the cast on stage after the performance. There were 100 characters in the opera. Church/temple ruins in the background. Blues, reds, whites, greens as dominant costume colors.

Currently chilling in room with little motivation to move. 4 days of NYCC and my body is all nope; no sightseeing for you today. Am finally getting some twitches to get up and go thus am researching nearest possible sites as motivator but that’s all from this current position which may not change:

I hope to see #StrangerThings the play/musical again at some point. There is so much going on (in a good way) lots more to see/notice/contemplate. I really enjoyed it. Lots of talking about how blown away with it we were during intermission.

It was a truly excellent choice to end #NYCC with.
Outside banner for ‘Stranger Things The First Shadow’ and the caption On Broadway. Playbill for ‘Stranger Things The first Shadow’ held up against the closed curtain of the show where an image for WBOB 103.5 with Bob ‘The Brain’ Newby was projected. The house was playing a variety of 50’s music as we waited for the curtain to rise. The evening’s cast on stage receiving a very enthusiastic standing ovation for their work.

From headworks to discharge. More to do but the difference between the source and result is indeed clear.

1: Primary Effluent - physical treatment (Pre Clean Water Act)

2: Secondary Effluent - biologic treatment (Clean Water Act)

3: Micro-filtration no RO (Title 22 std irrigation/cooling/boilers
3 jars displayed on a sheet of paper, above each is the phrase “Can You Read Me Now?” 1st jar of cloudy brownish-yellowish liquid with visible flocks and suspended solids in it. Opaque to sight. This is primary effluent after physical treatment to remove grit, rags, scum which is sent to landfill. Settleable solids are also removed and sent to a plant’s digesters for anaerobic or aerobic breakdown. This opaque material used to be discharged after disinfection to local waterways pre Clean Water Act. Consists of high dissolved nutrient loading in addition to the visible particulates. Caused a lot of fish kills, eutrophication, and general mayhem for hundreds of years before biologic treatment implemented. Was helpful at reducing cholera and other infectious disease spread due to disinfection practice prior to discharge which severely diminishes the numbers of infectious organisms being dumped into rivers. 2nd jar of semi-clear slightly yellowish liquid through which a murky series of letters can be viewed that resemble “Can You Read Me Now?”. This is secondary effluent where the material from the first jar is sent for biologic treatment post Clean Water Act. Suspended, colloidal, and dissolved solids from the first jar are transformed by high concentrations of local occurring river, stream, lake bacteria and micro-organisms into solid cellular mass which is then settled in tanks much larger than those found in the primary physical settling process. Larger tanks are needed because the bugs (short for the micro-organisms and bacteria) are very light so need more time to sink to bottom). 3rd jar is initial tertiary treatment with almost all color gone: micro-filtration, a physical process removes a lot of the remaining bacteria micro-organisms, algae caught up in the secondary effluent. Easily readable phrase underneath. Undergoes additional disinfection to meet drinking water safety standards for exposure but not taste or odors. Irrigation/cooling tower/boiler use.
