Making a rainbow egg basket watercolor set! This set is based off the egg color of real chicken breeds. I even refrenced some of my own hens egg colors.

I've been working on this commission for a while. The reason is that the reference photo provided to me isn't the greatest quality. I've been taking my time trying to bring put the lost detail in the reference photo.

Got a better light and rechecked while I was turning the eggs one last time before bed. Seems all 5 silkie eggs have vein development. I'm cautiously excited.

Due to not having any level of patience, I candled the eggs in the incubator. At least 4 out of 5 silkie eggs have vein development! I honestly didn't think these eggs would develop due to being well over a week old (closer to 2-2.5 weeks old). I'm going to stay cautiously excited.

My 9 year old daughter wanted to see if we could hatch Floofette's last eggs...so here we are. I also put in 3 from my Leghorn, GD who I lost last week to a hawk. Then I threw in a few other eggs to make it an even dozen. Send good vibes.

Welp, my 9 year old convinced her dad (my husband) to let her and I incubate Floofette's remaining eggs to see if we can get some of her babies now that she's gone. I'm also throwing in a couple from my Easter Egger and my Leghorn, who we lost last week to a hawk. Wish us luck!
