Don't get me wrong, to earn money from art is an absolute privilege and I'm so so lucky I get to do it, but you're only competing with yourself to do better, push thought further, and strive to be better that way instead.

The thing with art (and creative pursuits) is it's very different from other disciplines. The outcome is not always the goal, but the act of creating itself. We are taught from a young age that productivity and monetary value are the main reasons for doing anything, but for art this isn't the case.

By contrast, going from rural life to London for the weekend is delightful. A tube every 2 mins? Outstanding 10/10.
