Researchers and teachers from Dutch universities met today for the workshop “Ecology: Contemplative, Ethical, Integral, Religious, Spiritual.”

We talked extinction waves, humans as blue-green algae, composting after death, mystical games, and the wisdom of trees. A small group, lots of inspiration.

Vandaag had ik het genoegen om een lezing te geven aan de Open Universiteit over een onderwerp dat mij na aan het hart ligt: dierzaamheid. We bespraken de emotionele belevingswereld van (huis)dieren, hun ecologische pootafdruk, en de rol die dieren spelen in het duurzaamheidsdebat.

Vandaag op het Vrijthof en lopend door de stad als protest tegen de bezuinigingen op het Hoger Onderwijs. Ook de Maastricht University Campus Venlo hond was mee.

De hoeveelheid land die nodig is om huisdieren te voeden in Nederland is groter dan het totale landoppervlak van Nederland zelf!
In een interview voor het tv-programma van omroep HUMAN-NPO2 spraken we o.a. over de verborgen impact van onze keuzes – zelfs op onverwachte vlakken zoals huisdierenvoer.

Gisteren heb ik met veel plezier de documentaire SAM ingeleid in Filmhuis de Spiegel. SAM gaat over een gered moedervarken uit de vee-industrie, dat nog één keer in vrijheid haar biggen zelf mag opvoeden en verzorgen.
