Haven’t seen anyone talk about this yet, but looks like Alex Padilla is poised to take the top dem spot in the Senate rules committee next term, assuming Merkley takes top spot in budget and Klobuchar in Ag. Would be pretty stark having a freshman senator in that position with McConnell chairing.
