Was there a winrate difference between 20 land UR Prowess and 21 land UR Prowess?

My gut feeling was “unethical”, but I thought about late game 3 spots where you could take a minimally risky line to win the game or play conservative and draw. My gut says it’s ok to play conservative there even if the risky line is 100% correct with 25 mins. I’m not sure if that’s inconsistent?

This is a really well-written, insightful, and substantive article. I miss when this *style* of strategy content was more commonplace, and tbh even then it usually wasn’t of this quality.

Thanks, I’ll take as much luck as I can get

It’s a complex issue. I don’t mean to completely reject any sense of culpability, the parents deserve some blame for sure.

I have never seen a Neanderthal fossil. Even if I had, I would have no way of evaluating what I was looking at. The reason I “know” what they were and that they existed is because I rely on the people who I believe to be experts. To some degree, it’s luck that my idea of expertise is correct.

I don’t know, people can feel however they want. A little anger seems like a pretty normal thing to feel. I just think it’s important to try to have a little understanding and empathy as well. Those parents are themselves victims, even if they’re not purely blameless victims.

Those parents made a decision that they sincerely believed was the best for their child. In a sense, that is the best they could do. They were misinformed and/or poorly educated to disastrous consequence. Some of that is on them, but a lot of it isn’t.

This is a nice lethal puzzle. I stared at it for like 5 minutes and gave up, but after looking at the answer I feel stupid.

I’d cancel it. Against a skilled opponent this is a straightforward PV’s rule situation, and against an opponent who’s likely to make a mistake I’d still rather cultivate good habits than debase myself.
