Max (son of Anthony Minghella) directs Elisabeth Moss, in SHELL, chasing #TheSubstance dollar, into lobsterama realm for a monster-movie of black-comedy. Silly and splattery, but quite funny!

I remember Udo Kier in John Carpenter's MOH episode Cigarette Burns... just perfect casting.

Booster for Jess Varley's watchable SF-horror movie THE ASTRONAUT, starring #KateMara and #LaurenceFishburne.

Gripping political-thriller with no-nukes themes, A HOUSE OF DYNAMITE stacks up well against Twilight's Last Gleaming and By Dawn's Early Light. Is it Kathryn Bigelow's best movie? No, her directing on Near Dark, Blue Steel, Strange Days, and Zero Dark 30 was better, and they all broke new ground.

Quite amusing #B-movie, #TheASTRONAUT combines body-horror (Hammer's #QUATERMASS Xperiment), creepy #UFOlogy (Shyamalan's #SIGNS), and fantastic #weirdness of #XTRO. Feature-debut of writer-director #JessVarley, this #SF vehicle for Kate Mara & Laurence Fishburne lacks originality but is good fun.

A modestly entertaining comedy-drama, with varied killers after a mobster's missing money, this remains an oddly lightweight crime-thriller by usual standards of director Darren #Aronofsky. With a hero haunted by tragedy and late-1990s culture, it never quite succeeds beyond scope of genre oddity.

If you liked Takashi (Godzilla Minus 1) Yamazaki's live-action movies #PARASYTE 1 & 2, manga-inspired TV show PARASYTE: THE GREY also delivers weird alien-invasion body-horrors with briskly sketched characters. Blending comedy with crazy action, here's a tale of plastic-reality transformations.

One of the best 1990s' noir thrillers, Peter Medak's ROMEO IS BLEEDING bundles dozens of subgenre cliches (including, but not only - blonde, brunette, and redhead) while Gary Oldman's already-corrupt cop self-destructs without much prompting by wealthy, ruthless mobsters. Fun!
