when we talk about the radicalisation of people we dont give enough credit to algorithms on social media. its a black box, it cant be proven, but you havent seen what i have

and the times it tried to push things i could only describe as propaganda were very interesting. id interact with one thing and suddenly get a torrent of manosphere posts. this wouldnt happen when the thing was feminist. the algorithmic bias became clear

it was very clear where it was trying to work me out by throwing shit at the wall and seing what stuck. when it was trying to work out my gender i got pushed a lot of sexual health information that was targeted to spefic agab, really weirdly organised

but i also got the chance to observe the algorithm trying to work me out from scratch. since this happened post transition with new accounts, new emails, new everything. usually an experience only afforded to children who dont understand what its doing

if our main means of organising community is through platforms controlled by billionaire moguls, none of our movements will mean shit

first up. my abscence from social media almost completely disconnected me from community. people i considered friends claimed they couldnt contact me, despite having several other means including phone number. if we cannot have community outside of any big corporate social media we are doomed
