The song below is part of my writing soundtrack atm, but also:

The cover art for James Last's 1970s Polka Party albums are mindblowingly awetastic, let's be honest here

Question to the BlueSky game studies-crowd!

What are some of the best studies you know about the psychological, emotional and cognitive engagement of players with game fictions?

I'm thinking of books by @kcisbister.bsky.social , Aubrey Anable and some others, but any other key recommendations?

Hmm ok, so what if I taunt myself when starting my writing day

Great keynote from #DH2025 that resonates - go give it a read:

In news reporting, ANY discussion of budget cuts or tax increases should be preceded by showing a stat like this: what the actual spending distribution of a country looks like right now.

Is DOGE cutting the US federal deficit, chainsaw-style?

Eh... not so much.

Net differentiatie is essentieel.

A reverse 666 number of followers!

This means that I am now morally obligated to read The Penguin Book of Hell.

Will the second edition include a chapter on the year 2025? We will find out in due time.

Ok, so we need better HOI4-based courses that also involve enough cautionary messages towards pdx-afficionados based on this template:

😊

Toen ik je plaatje zag moest ik eerst wel even aan het 'Pepe Silvia'-plaatje van It's Always Sunny denken... 😅

Alright :)
I also did not know the book by Charles W Mills you reference, so plenty more to chew on...

I also really like this quote from Lyotard's book (I should go and pick it up at some point)

Also:
- Loving #playingwar24 in Regensburg so far
- Go check out the book 'Shaping the Past' by Ylva Grufstedt (is Ylva on here?)! It's one of the best studies on games by Paradox Interactive out there.

I really love this quote from Bessel van der Kolk's book.

Academia should be a lot more about reading and reflecting in a freeroaming manner.

"Here's a library with books on biology, quantum mechanics, history, German literature, and sociology. Go read something."
