I’ve finished my weird knitting monstrosity and it keeps me lovely and warm. Instead of being a loop, it turned out a moebius strip, but it still works as planned. Made with Drops Alaska. 3 balls. 8mm 80cm circular needles.

There is no cat in this picture.
The tiny yummy-scrummy tabby is lying on her side, paws over her nose, and toe beans showing. Her stripes and white paws blend into the pinch she is sleeping on well enough that someone without their glasses and very tired, while not really paying attention might miss that she’s there.

Needed an 8mm cable stitch needle so I made one on the lathe.
An 8mm stainless steel cable stitch needle made on the lathe. The tapers are different at each end - 7.5° left, 5° right - as I wasn’t sure which would work best. The needle is bent by around 10° at the middle. It’s help in the white hand of a fat, bearded oaf, whom you cannot see. The hand rests on a grey herringbone blanket for contrast.

Went out to Wild Ken Hill and had a lovely stroll about de-stressing and generally forest bathing, then stopped at the Co-Op to buy some lunch. Getting back in the car, managed to strain an intercostal. Every time I breathe too hard it feels like a heart attack. Lovely.

It’s not hard to see why I call her ‘my little bird’ when she perches so daintily in branches.

The same ya by cat standing four-square on a very thin branch of the Bramley. She has a guarded expression on her face. The afternoon sun gives a warm glow to the scene.

I have roughed out an answer for you.
Three double coat hooks in mild steel, the ends of each hook scrolled, and mounted using brass screws to a plywood plinth. Which is very nice to say aloud. Try it. Plywood plinth. Plywood plinth. Anyway, they look great and as soon as I can lay hands on a new batch of this metal (trickier than you might imagine) I shall be making some more.

I think it was @someblokeinahat.bsky.social who suggested brass screws, which at the time I was not keen on but crikey, I’m not too proud to admit I was wrong. These look ace.
Six court hooks held by the top hook so we can see the brass screws in place. The holes are a bit all over but the contrast of the grey metal and the brass screws looks amazing.

Just read these as run-on in a thread and let me tell you, my eyebrows twitched.
Willow: I’m finding the the acknowdlegemebt of stylish women my own age is so important Granted most days I look like a toddler who fell in a tub of glitter or mud but the days when I go for the blouse & boots, this matters.y son’s stylish 50 something consultant complimented my velvet pinafore today. Laura: She also attacked my foot when I raised it during a balance, and got her claw stuck in my sock. Then hissed at me when I tried to disentangle us 😳

He’s the Mister Most Besty-Cat so I’ve made him a little wall to keep the light out while he snoozles.

Some progress on the coat hooks: these need a final fettle and then descaling/drilling for screws. And the screws are the next thing I need to decide on. I want slot head, slight dome, black, 12mm x 3 or 4mm. I wonder if anywhere round here sells them?
Eight coat hooks rest neatly stacked atop an anvil. They are dull grey in colour and have a two hooks, one above the other. We see them side-on so the scrolls at the ends of each arm can be seen.

I’ve just realised my new duvet set is the exact same design as the curtains in my parents’ front room from when I was small. Insane.
A duvet set decorated with overlapping squares and circles in orange and grey. The pattern shapes are low opacity so they meld and colours change where they overlap. It’s quite the eyeful.
