Buying sanitary products is not a sacred experience. I remember being enraged that we had to pay for them, when men don't have that expense. Re: Bras--having folks with bodies similar to and different than mine in the lingerie section has been immensely comforting, not traumatic, especially as a kid

These jobs are only available to those who already have the skills. To get the skills, you need to pay. Once you have the skills, you need to be paid enough to pay back your loans. It's not that they don't want the jobs. Employers won't train their labor or pay for training.

Also, employers could provide training for skilled labor--they could hire actual entry-level folks and train them up instead of requiring years of self-funded training. But that means being a little less greedy so...

Skilled trades started dying when employers started expecting the public schools to pay for training. People I graduated high school with WOULD have gone into more trades, if they were willing to hire and train
