Fair play to you for keep on keeping on. I did think you were pretty clear in your argument, but on reflection, this might be too nuanced for anything with an audience, so again, fair play. To be fair your argument does rely on some element in faith in others &less hubris, increasingly lost I fear.

We seemingly don’t want to take the time to listen, but I fear that I need to stop or I will sink back into rose tinted spectacles. I hoped we had learnt to be more tolerant, but maybe it is just projection, because I’m slightly less of a tit at 55, than I was at 18. Still have faith tho.

I am the child of Irish parents &the70s in England, one of whom was interned. We will not win this argument with telling people, I hope we can with it an argument about compassion and care, but that would not have worked in the 70s. I’m not certain about anything, hence my sleepless nights. That and a dreadful fear that certainty of belief in all quarters gives less room for all quarters. However, you are right, thank you, I clearly cannot contribute anything here.

It doesn’t matter what you or I choose to call anyone, if some is ‘legitimately’ frightened of them, coz they perceive them as a man. I couldn’t give a monkeys, but equally, I’m not so certain of my certainty as you are, hence the use of men/gender/sex. Nor is it up to me to define legitimacy.

If we agree that most sexual violence towards women is by men, then surely exposure to men increases risk. That’s not to smear all, surely? Just an acknowledgment that risk(however small) increases. I do not feel smeared, I worry that some women are justified in being scared of my sex/gender though.
