2010-2020 was a fun time to work in post in the city because ad creatives got lazy and made spots out of having alt comedy guys come into a vo booth and riff, so you’d see benjamin, glaser, mirman, pete holmes, gaffigan, chris gethard, etc around the office on a daily basis

it feels more like tech companies are actively not courting actual good ideas and useful product innovation in favor of beating us over the head with a bad one that they happen to have over-invested in

Tremors at exhumed films 24 hr. Horrorthon at colonial theater phoenixville 2 yrs ago. i watched that movie on vhs almost every day as a kid, and seeing every single line land perfectly and sincerely in a packed theater was a really nice experience.

work for another large agency with mandates to use AI as much as possible and this has been a huge issue- takes longer to do anything because we’re just putting the prompt in over and over until it gets close to what client wants, and then we can’t really even respond to a lot of notes.

my feeling is that these guys just don’t really differentiate between content used for advertising (which very likely will be near fully ai at some point), and content that people actually seek out and want to watch for the sale of entertainment.
