Grief-stricken mum of Douglas (http://douglasboyes.co.uk). We shared passion for insects & Bellowhead. Particularly obsessed by solitary wasps and bees. VC47 recorder, Bees, Wasps, Butterflies. MRes Ento student at HAU.
They are one of my favourite wasps. The first time I saw them was 18 years ago with Douglas when we were on an FSC course at Flatford Mill. That was the trip that got him hooked on moths

Thank you Don for your kindness. Yes, I think of Douglas every day, but today has been particularly hard. Tomorrow will be a bit easier

Glad you enjoyed it!I was there yesterday with an entomology group. We loved it but we're unlucky with cold cloudy weather so not many insects. We will return!

Douglas had a visit from the police once when out trapping in the Welsh uplands. They thought he was rustling sheep. The policeman knew a lot more about moths afterwards!

And, as if to prove the point, today there was a Melitta haemorrhoidalis sleeping in the garden Campanula today. I didn't have my camera because I've checked those flowers several times a day for weeks and weeks to no avail.
