You’re right!

You are so lucky! New Orleans is too far south. Alas.

Ready!

Such a great great book to read again.

Let's go Polish! (I'm half Polish, half Italian).

I agree! Not kind. Although the definition of solicitous - I looked it up and, turns out, I use the word the wrong way - "characterized by or showing interest or concern." Doesn't sound like Faye's motivation for hearing stories.

Oh, yes. The unused yet used knife.
November 9, 2025 at 11:09 PM
Me, too! Doesn’t the N solicit these stories in all settings? Plane, teaching, restaurants, the apartment. But - to be kind, or to collect?

This is how I feel after losing my husband of 35 years, especially in the fourth more comfortable year. I’ve got time and space to be nothing but myself. It’s not bad! I’m not bad!

Must feel great to embark on the writing of a trilogy. You get to sustain the first book’s mysteries, and write an ending like this!

An outline has the bones; a framed house with unwritten rooms that hold memory, secrets, pain, pleasure. Faye’s holding on to something, I think. Three weeks in ash filled Greece with her children, invisible in Agora among draped goddesses? What is going on!?

Let's land this flight to Greece!
November 6, 2025 at 3:02 PM
Also - an outline is loaded for bear.

Thinking about Jhumpa Lahiri writing a novel in learned/mastered Italian that she then translated into English. Running the pages side by side.

Anne needs more sugar! (Down South, sugar means affection/love.) And what of the honey on the spoon?

I am loving the discussions we are having about the N and this mind bending book! Glad there are two more. :)

This description felt clinical, more sterile although I know she’s coding in a layer for the reader. Nearly touching seems like a theme in the book.

What a thrilling post season! Toronto almost did it.

LGA is a pleasure to fly in and out of. Great public art!
November 5, 2025 at 5:38 PM
I know, I agree. Does he just want to be heard as he tells his version of his story? And then - His move on the N on the boat? Is that depth of character or a cliche?

This piece is deeply painfully beautifully.

Who beats a dog for godsakes? Who writes about a woman who beats a dog? Tough to read this. I’m glad Mimi finished the bday cake before running for the hills.
November 4, 2025 at 6:51 PM
Yes! And singing full voiced to Rage Against the Machine!
November 4, 2025 at 6:49 PM
Will we get to understand what happened to her in the trilogy? The parallel is a good one, being on the run to nowhere in particular. Also - Mimi was fleeing being beaten.
