This is actually a different thing - not all areas of purple moor grass are bad. It’s just when it is the dominant species in landscapes that should be filled with other vegetation communities, such as blanket bogs.

Crucial point is much of the UK's peatlands are already degraded and therefore urgently need restoration to a) reduce their contribution to exacerbating climate change and b) build in the resilience needed to allow these important ecosystems to adapt
