It benefits them. It’s a reflection of society and what they want us to value. I’m not sure how it works in the states but teachers here are not taught to critically dive into their curriculum to look for influence. Someone somewhere decided to gate-keep that knowledge…

Im a teacher in Canada who sees the same things. I actually just wrapped a paper this morning on neoliberalism influence on our science curriculum. And to answer your question there are some strong powerful groups and movements who work in the background and want education to be just like this. 😬

I find myself saying “sssshhhhh” for a moment to quiet a large group when I’m out with my friends or family 🤦‍♀️ sadly it always works in social situations too….
