I’ve heard of some companies in Scandinavia who locate their server facilities within mountains to take advantage of natural cooling - though even then of course there is still environmental damage via excess warming to the surrounding landscape.

it’s those massive server farms they all use that cause so much “hidden” environmental damage. both massive power consumption and water cooling demand. crypto demands were/are equally massive.
