Living in Finland, truly moving water is rare. I had to travel to the deep valleys of the Creuse to find this.

The ruins of Findlater Castle may become famous soon as this location is in Christopher Nolan's next film, "The Odyssey".

For this shot I had to wait for low tide, jump from rock to rock, and get back before I was cut off.

Haven't posted this photo for a while - it's just over 5 years old, taken on the penultimate day of an incredible 50-day-long trip around #Iceland in 2020. Heavily processed, but sometimes you just have to!

Before I go, here's another from the recent trip to #Scotland of the wonderful Allt Chranaidh Falls - we returned when no-one else was there so I could get a full length shot without people in it!
A tall waterfall falls between high cliffs over black rocks into a river below; the water is brown from tannin. There is some autumnal vegetation at the banks and on the cliffs. The bit of sky visible is grey/blue. The photo is long exposure so the white water is smoothed, and a polariser filter was used to prevent reflection on the water so you can see the brown colour and the rocks on the bed.

Kalasatama

Taking the "Nifty Fifty" out for a walk in Helsinki. There is a specific geometry to this district that just works with a 50mm focal length. The contrast of the warm brick against the heavy winter sky is exactly why I carry a camera in December.

Meeting the Locals (2014)

I don't usually photograph animals—my focus is usually on the landscape itself. But you can't walk through the Limousin region of France without acknowledging its most famous residents. This one was particularly curious about the wide-angle lens.

Finnish Summer, 2018

I usually point the camera the other way when the sun goes down. I try to avoid the obvious shot.

But sometimes, the light forces your hand. This was one of those nights near Lammi where the water was glass and the silence was total.

Polar Night, No More

In the middle of #Kaamos, the sun barely clears the horizon. But when it breaks through the heavy cloud cover, the light is incredibly intense.
