Just read the chapter with Elzar’s talk with Yoda, and it’s one of my favorites in the entire book, along with Elzar and Avar’s conversation on Naboo. It provides such a different view of love than pretty much anything I’ve seen before, and also shows how love can fit into a Jedi’s life

I love chapter with Avar meeting Elzar in his quarters, it’s such a great glimpse into their lives and how they might’ve been as Padawans. And for Avar to finally admit to herself that she loves Elzar? I think this one’s my favorite of all the High Republic books, thank you @tessagratton.bsky.social

Finished Eye of Darkness!! Throughout the book it seemed like there wasn’t a lot of hope, but near the end when Avar finally makes it back and Ghirra starts to see the weather get better (great symbolism btw) it seems like there’s finally a bit of hope back in the Galaxy

Man, Soh knew immediately, from one mention of Avar, that Elzar liked her 😂
For reals tho, @georgemann.bsky.social does a great job of depicting a guy liking a girl. It’s just kind of a mention of her every little bit, like “oh I wish she were here” kind of thing (obviously not as scary a situation)

Just realized, Marchion has the She’ar, his bodyguards, and their title is spelled exactly like shear, as in wind shear, the difference in wind speed in the atmosphere. Coincidence because it just sounds cool, or another nod to the storm imagery?

Okay now I’m confused on how Elzar’s robe is supposed to look, because that’s definitely a hood in that panel on the left and he definitely didn’t have that in the last issue 😂

Given that we don’t have a whole lot in the way of concept art (besides the beautiful art books of course) panels like these two are super helpful when designing costumes. I’m thinking about making a more comic accurate Elzar, and having a panel showing the back of his cape is so nice

Ever since the first time I read this comic and saw the “battle ready sabers” I’ve been wondering who they never returned to the elegant sabers they used to make after the Nihil were defeated (and yes it’s weird talking about it like it already happened though it hasn’t yet lol)
