I think it's from the alt-right US playbook. He seems entirely emboldened since the US inauguration. I find it terrifying and unfortunately I suspect it plays with his base.

Yeah I quite like there being consequences for out of control rapists myself, might be the first time in history. I realise it's uncomfortable for people who aren't on the receiving end of the raping though.

Maybe having his productions cancelled is the consequence of him raping people. Maybe it makes people feel icky about giving him more money. Maybe it's ok to not want to make rapists richer or make them president. If that indeed leads to a rise in right wing populism then we're pretty fucked.
