Born to yap, forced to confront the economic and political state of the world
In the process of "fitting the story in" and setting up for the catastrophes in later acts, act 1 lost sight of what made it so good in the first place. Its commitment to storytelling which aligns with this quote: “The only thing worth writing about is the human heart in conflict with itself”

Overall, Arcane 2 Act 1 feels rushed and contrived—new characters are introduced too quickly, and plot points like hunting Jinx are shoehorned in. It relies heavily on a fast, “Spiderverse”-style Tiktok brain rot with rapid cuts and flashy cinematography.

Singed? No idea what he’s doing or why. Why did his shimmer research stop, I thought the "mutation must survive"?

For secondary characters like Singed, who will have huge impacts on the rest of the story with Ori/WW, the show did not do enough to make me care about him.

Same issues with Jayce. No idea why he’s okay with Viktor leaving or why his research suddenly centers on Viktor. What happened to hextech or being involved in politics? Building hextech for the war against Zaun?

But Vi’s sudden turn against Jinx feels unearned. Yes, Jinx nuked a city, but we don’t see how Vi processes this after spending all of S1 chasing Jinx. It’s all tell and no show.

Caitlyn is an exception. Her internal struggle is fleshed out. You feel her frustration with Vi, the political system, and her hatred of Jinx as she seeks to avenge her mom. This impacts Caits relationship with Vi and pushes Cait to dedicate her family resources to Ambessa's crisis power-grab

Arcane S2 Act 1 lacked the “good stuff”—moments where difficult circumstances drive character development or relationships grow as people deal with their inner demons. For example: In s1, when Vi struggles with guilt for abandoning Jinx.
