I lost my teaching position yesterday because of my solidarity with Ukraine and my non support of trump. The school district is saying I quit but that’s not what happened. I’m 64 and have been teaching since 1986. My career is over.

2 maga students decided that they would tell classmates who just lost a friend to suicide that suicide is the coward’s way out but that it’s not really an escape because she went straight to hell when she lost hope and took her life. How can I keep teaching when I can’t speak truth to this lie?

We lost another student to suicide this weekend. That makes 5 since the beginning of August. We’re not a huge school district so proportionally 5 is huge. Just in my classes, I’ve had 4 who made attempts. I’m so tired but the students need people who love them. I need help knowing how to move on.

2nd sem. Began today, I realized that I have a paranoia about students with maga parents. Earlier this year, just after the election, a student complained to her parents about me. There was a brutal meeting with them and my admin. I thought the girl would be removed, but no. Is she a spy?

@annemooreorless.bsky.social don’t give up. You don’t know me but I saw that you’re not convinced that anyone cares that you exist. I’ve lost 4 former students in the last 15 months who gave up. If they’d only known how much I miss them. People leave our classroom and we never hear from them again

I may be oversimplifying the cyber truck explosion, but it seems to me that this soldier lost hope and wanted to make a statement. He served our nation for over 19 years and was probably repulsed by trump’s horrific behavior. The words I’ve chosen aren’t adequate to express his anger and despair.

My favorite picture from 2024 is my grandson and I interacting with Chewbacca. My delight and his awe were obvious. Chewy was surprised by my grandson who had a pamphlet and pencil in his hands. I’m sure he was thinking, “What kind of kid goes to Disneyland and fills in an activity booklet?”

Yes,given all this Trump’s late intervention to tank the year end spending bill, undermine Speaker Johnson and throw House Rs into chaos looks even more reckless, impulsive and idiotic.
There will not be a House able to operate without a Speaker. No certification of EVs on Jan 6. If no House by Jan 20, the Presidential Succession Act kicks in. President Chuck Grassley! (Note he would have to resign from the Senate first.) If not, a bit of a quandary.
