New York took an important step forward this year when the Legislature passed the Medical Aid in Dying Act, a compassionate and evidence based bill that gives terminally ill New Yorkers the ability to make their own end of life decisions.

Just a quick reminder that my Year End Town Hall is coming up this Thursday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Lisha Kill Middle School. I hope you’ll stop by to share your thoughts and hear updates on the work we’re doing in Albany and throughout the district.

I am grateful to our Sikh neighbors for welcoming me and for all they contribute to the Capital Region. Learning more about Guru Tegh Bahadar Ji’s legacy is a reminder of how important it is for us to keep working toward a community rooted in justice, tolerance, and freedom for everyone.

I had the honor of speaking w/ members of our Sikh community on the 350th anniversary of the martyrdom of Guru Tegh Bahadar Ji. His courage in standing up to an emperor & defending the right of all people to practice their faith freely are a powerful reminder of the values we must continue to uphold

Wishing everyone celebrating a very Happy Chanukah. It was great to spend time today at Chanukah on Jay in Schenectady, coming together with neighbors to celebrate the Festival of Lights. May this season bring light, peace, and joy to you and your family.

December is National Impaired Driving Prevention Month, a time to recognize that every decision we make behind the wheel can save a life. Too many families know the devastation caused by impaired driving, and these tragedies are entirely preventable.

I want to acknowledge the amazing work that Caleb and Eva, two gifted students from Shaker and South Colonie High School, have been doing over the past few months while interning in our office.

My Legislative Director, Dylan MacQuoid, attended the ribbon-cutting ceremony Jewish Family Services of Northeastern New York. This new space will support the Presilience Initiative, a program designed to address the growing mental health challenges facing youth and young adults in our community.

Snow day in the 110th District ❄️

I know many of you are home today with kids, grandkids, or catching up on work while the snow keeps falling. Please take it slow and stay safe if you need to be out and about.

As this day comes to a close, I’m especially grateful to represent a community filled with people who care deeply. From our volunteers and local organizations to our teachers, first responders, and neighbors who quietly step up when others need help, you make this a wonderful place to call home.

I’m proud to share several important investments that have been secured and delivered to organizations throughout our community. These funds are strengthening local programs, improving public safety, expanding recreation, and supporting the health and well-being of families across the region.

Across the 110th Assembly District, far too many families continue to face food insecurity, and ensuring consistent access to healthy, reliable food has been one of my top priorities since taking office.

Due to this, I have introduced common sense legislation to ban sports betting advertisements during live sporting events (A8925). In 2019, Italy enacted a similar policy after seeing a dramatic rise in gambling addiction rates. Since it took effect, their rates of problem gambling have decreased.
November 21, 2025 at 5:52 PM
It is impossible to watch any sporting event without seeing a commercial for a sports betting platform. Not only can this be frustrating for the average viewer, but it also makes watching sports very difficult for someone recovering from a gambling addiction, since they are constantly being tempted.

I also had the honor of meeting with Geraldine Byrne Nason, Ireland’s Ambassador to the United States. Her leadership and perspective made the visit even more meaningful.

November is Child Safety and Protection Month, a time to recognize our shared responsibility to keep every child safe, supported, and able to thrive. As a community, we all play a role in building a stronger future for our children.

Housing costs are an increasing burden on hardworking New Yorkers, which is why I'm doing everything I can to lower them.

I also want to thank Guilderland Supervisor Peter Barber and his team for joining us today, and to recognize the Town Hall employees who donated two trunks worth of food, which is a powerful reminder of how much this community steps up for one another.

The Guilderland Food Pantry continues to meet rising demand with dedication and compassion, and I am proud to support their work in our community. Thank you to Mac McDonnell, the staff, and the many volunteers who make this pantry a lifeline for so many families.

That makes strong support for our local food pantries more important than ever. This funding will help the pantry expand its School Backpack Program, provide holiday meal packages, and keep shelves stocked for anyone who needs assistance.
