Still not that Dr. Phil. Sometimes health econ and outcomes research, always record collecting. Opinions my own.
My wife is listening to the “Sellout” audiobook and it’s prompting a lot of early 00s nostalgia in our household

A very good Phillies team had the BP lose two demoralizing games and they didn’t bounce back. The team that beat them steamrolled LA! This is a bummer but not exactly the kind of loss that requires any great soul searching IMO

My neighborhood FB group is full of posts like “I ran a red light and got caught, it’s unfair! How do I get out of it?” People really don’t think any rules should apply to cars!
here's another one.

"More alarming to me is the number of parents of young children in parking lots letting them run toward their destination with no hand-holding and with a flagrant disregard for moving cars.  There is an arrogance that we, the vehicle operators, should always yield to them."
here is a literal sentence from an email i got in response to my newsletter on pedestrian deaths.

"I do want to see the media do some research and not assume that all victims had nothing to do with their own untimely and unnecessary death."

Are people familiar with Honeycomb and other accredited investor work arounds? What are origination costs like in this space?

Self checkout was never meaningfully “automation,” it’s just outsourcing

We have an anxious dog so I’m trying very hard to channel what would normally be incoherent baseball yelling into “good dog! Very good dog!”

There's a thread over on Twitter but apparently there are major updates to ProPublica's non-profit explorer! t.co/nH9mrwmrzC

When the abstract says

❝We exploit the quasi-exogenous assignment of 1.5 million patients to physicians in US military, using the difference in ranks to measure their power differential❞

you know you're in for something great

This site desperately needs a function to privately send your friends bad posts. It’s a glaring omission!

I knew Twitter had gotten bad but just saw a thread commenting on a fairly mainstream piece of film crit that was 100% angry Q people in the replies. Beyond saving.

Excited to see if this model works when there's no "who are we doing this versus" aspect
