Opening night of the 2025 high school football season featured two DMPS vs DMPS matchups: East hosted North and Roosevelt hosted Lincoln. At Mediacom Stadium, the Rails topped the Riders 28-16 while at Williams Stadium the Scarlets beat the Polar Bears 10-2. See more: flic.kr/s/aHBqjCsp3J

Back on the school beat: a few snaps leading up to the start of classes today in Des Moines. This year’s first day of school is somewhat bittersweet as it is my last … after 20 years with DMPS - a term as Board member and what will be 16+ years as communications director - I plan to retire in June.
