On this day in history, November 13, 1940, Disney’s Fantasia was released. The Philadelphia Orchestra and former Music Director Leopold Stokowski made movie history by playing the soundtrack to the innovative animated film that has since introduced multiple generations to classical music.

Concertmaster David Kim took us on a musical tour of all Four Seasons last night in Marian Anderson Hall and Principal Cello Hai-Ye Ni and Associate Principal Cello Priscilla Lee gave a remarkable performance of Vivaldi’s Concerto for Two Cellos, marking Priscilla’s solo debut with the Orchestra!

Last night’s performance with Teddy Abrams and Time for Three was electric! The Orchestra and Time for Three gave the SPAC premiere of Mason Bates’s Silicon Hymnal, and Mason himself took on the electronica part. Works by Samuel Barber and Aaron Copland rounded out the night.

Renée Fleming stunned last night at the Saratoga Performing Arts Center in a special performance inspired by her GRAMMY Award-winning album Voice of Nature: the Anthropocene. Fleming performed a wide range of works paired with a beautiful film created by National Geographic. #classical

Last night’s performance of Verdi’s Requiem was incredible! Music and Artistic Director Yannick Nézet-Séguin was joined by a fierce group of singers, including Ailyn Pérez, Sasha Cooke, Matthew Polenzani, Alfred Walker, and Albany Pro Musica chorus.

Legendary composer Joe Hisaishi led three enchanting concerts in Marian Anderson Hall this week! The concert featured a selection of his orchestral works and a suite from the acclaimed film Spirited Away. Principal Viola Choong-Jin Chang gave an incredible performance of Hisaishi’s Viola Saga.
