After 2 days of conference and 2 days of hackathon, I’m on my way home 🛫 from @cascadiajs.com. It was a pleasure and a privilege to get to keynote, and to spend the event meeting so many people. I’m tired but so happy to have been a part of the events. 😃😴

I built an alt text generator with @langflow.org and @nextjs.org.

Alt text isn't something that an LLM will get right first time, so I tried to build this application to be collaborative, with space to guide the model and edit the result.

Can collaborating with AI help accessibility?
An example of using the alt text generating app. An image is loaded, then set to generate alt text. Then extra information is added and the alt text is generated again.

Have you heard about @firebase.com Genkit? It's an open-source framework for building and testing AI features in TypeScript.

It's got a great interface for working with models, flows, prompts, indexers, and retrievers.

Today we announced the Astra DB plugin for Genkit.
An animated screenshot of the Genkit user interface. It shows the available flows, models, embedding models, indexers, and retrievers available to the system. The animation just shows how it spells out "Welcome to Genkit" at the top of the page.

JavaScript dates are playing April fools jokes on me 😖

This is fun! @sonicdmg.bsky.social built an app using Langflow and image generation models that creates a personalised CodeBeast based on your @github.com profile.

Mine came out looking pretty happy and cute!
My CodeBeast is made up of a happy looking bunny-like creature with a big curly tail, sitting at a laptop and holding a cup of coffee. It's surrounded by books, blue birds and a crystal.

What I love about working in the AI space is that sometimes I see a summary of a paper and I think, "I understand most of that, let's take a look" and then it's just wall to wall mathematical symbols. 😵‍💫
An innocent looking summary that reads: " Robust RLHF with Preference as Reward (17 minute read) A systematic study on reward shaping in RLHF led to Preference As Reward (PAR), a method that uses latent preferences to enhance alignment, improve data efficiency, and mitigate reward hacking, outperforming existing approaches on multiple benchmarks." An excerpt from the paper that reads: " Consequently, we term this method Preference As Reward (PAR), which is defined as follows. To enhance stability, we use multiple M reference rewards:" and then followed by a mathematical formula that has symbols in that I don't recognise.
